Thanks for joining the Portland Climbing and Bouldering Facebook group. It’s a challenge to find accurate information for some local areas online and it’s difficult to find crags that have low crowds near Portland. To make accessing low-crowded areas easier our local group occasionally puts together information for local crags.

Thanks so much for joining the local Facebook group Portland Climbing and Bouldering. If you came to this page and are not already a member already feel free to join here. The group is made up of local climbers dedicated to preserving access to local crags and bouldering areas as well as a place to meet up and get introduced to local partners and climbers/boulderers. We also are the main contributors to creating all of the new guidebooks and guidebook apps for Portland and Northwest Oregon.

Local Crags

You can support us by purchasing one of our print guidebooks or guidebook apps below. They offer the most up-to-date beta for Portlands crags.

Portland has some of the best crags and bouldering areas in the state, no doubt. While other parts of the Northwest have larger more heavily-traffic crags, Portland enjoys some areas that are more off-the-radar like Area 51.

A lot of the city crags tend to get crowded on the weekends but Portland has several areas that lie within the Mt Hood vicinity such as Area 52. Other lesser-traveled areas include Rock Creek Crag, OH8, Stratosphere climbing area and a few others.

We plan to regularly update our free guidebooks and guidebook apps for Portland. Stay subscribed to our email list to get updates to guides and new free guides.
