Overview
Twitchell Pond climbing area is one of the more popular bouldering areas in Maine. This secluded and quiet area has some of the highest quality granite blobs in Western Maine. The area is not a destination area; so don’t plan your next vacation around it, but there are some excellent problems to send if you are passing through. This area is small and closely concentrated. The problems range from V0 to V10 with harder projects sitting in the woods. The granite here is similar to nearby North Conway but with excellent landings and easy access. Some houses lie scattered on the other side of the Pond and nearby so it is important to keep noise to a minimum here.
Opinion
A really good area but small and secluded. There are stout lines here to suit the true hardman (or hardwoman). The quality of the rock is superb and the area is a rue New England bouldering area: hard problems, high quality, and something to suit nearly any level climber. This area is not massive or spread out, but what is here is worth a days stop.
